Frequently asked questions

How do I add Reboard as a keyboard?

iOS Settings > General > Keyboard > Keyboards > Add New Keyboard > Reboard. Then tap Reboard in the list to enable it.

Do I need an account or the internet?

No account, ever. Translation runs on your device with Apple's on-device Translation. After a one-time language download it works fully offline.

Why does the keyboard ask for "Allow Full Access"?

Translation itself works without Full Access. It is only needed for the optional extras: clipboard history (reading the system clipboard) and key-press sound and vibration. You can leave it off and still translate.

The first translation works but the second hangs.

This was a known issue in early builds. Update to the latest version. If you still see it, please email us with your iOS version.

How do I see translation history?

Long-press the Translate button on the keyboard, or open the Reboard app to see the recent translations card.

Does Reboard store what I type?

Only translations you explicitly tap Translate on are saved as history, locally on your device. The keyboard never logs your raw typing, and nothing is sent anywhere. See our Privacy Policy.

Apple Translation asks me to download a language. Why?

The first time you use a new language pair on-device, iOS downloads a small model (about 30 to 60 MB). After that, translation works offline. You can manage downloaded languages in iOS Settings > General > Language & Region > Translation Languages.

How do I delete my data?

Open Reboard, tap the gear icon in the keyboard, then Clear history. Or simply delete the Reboard app, everything is stored on your device.
